The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is one of the largest museums of modern and contemporary art in the United States and a thriving cultural center for the Bay Area. Our remarkable collection of painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, design, and media arts, is housed in an LEED Gold-certified building designed by the global architects Snøhetta and Mario Botta. In addition to our seven gallery floors, SFMOMA offers 45,000 square feet of free, art-filled public space open to all.
SFMOMA believes the art of our time is vital and shares it with passion and purpose, and that art and the creative process can open minds and help build a better world. For that reason, we assemble unparalleled collections, create exhilarating exhibitions, and develop engaging public programs that connect with our community. Welcome!
Coronavirus Update
SFMOMA IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED
In keeping with city, county, and state regulations regarding large gatherings, and to contain the spread of coronavirus, the museum, and its stores and restaurants are temporarily closed. All visits, tours, and events are postponed or canceled at this time. The SFMOMA Museum Store, the SFMOMA store at SFO, In Situ restaurant, Cafe 5, the Sightglass coffee bars in SFMOMA, and the Artists Gallery at Fort Mason, are all closed.
We made this decision after much consideration, in concert with fellow arts organizations, and out of concern for the health and well-being of our community. The safety of our members, visitors, and staff is our top priority.
Our website is updated daily. Please look here for news on our reopening. If you have reserved tickets to the museum, please call 415.357.4000 or email visit@sfmoma.org for information about rebooking or refunds. Since the museum is currently operating remotely, it may take us up to 72 hours to get back to you; thank you for your patience.
We look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful galleries and relaxing public spaces, and to sharing the art of our time with you, very soon. In the meantime, head to SFMOMA’s Museum From Home page to find artist interviews, essays, educational materials and other highlights from our expansive digital collection.
